Hear ye! Hear ye!

A formal announcement shall be made for the East Chicago Ivy Knights Chess Club.

For the past month and a half, the cabinet and members reached out to the Northwest Region to recruit new members but to also to make a buzz about the Clash of the Knights Round 2 Tournament held on May 5^th 2017.

During the tournament 10 students from the Northwest Region battled each other for the victory of being the Knight of the Tournament. The Prizes at stake were Amazon Gift Cards worth $250, $200, $150, $100, and $50.

First Place was given to Houston Shimala, 2nd place to Justin Meyers, 3rd place to Elince Perez, 4th place to Joshua Williams, and 5th place to Isaac Sinks. There was Pizza and Pop to go all the way around and then some.

Houston will be placed on the Plaque for winning this Tournament which will be planned to be finished in Fall 2017. Houston was also the winner for the Clash of the Knights Round 1 Tournament held earlier in February.

I want to thank Brian Bright and Marko Akrap for their awesome advisor contribution to the Ivy Knights Chess Club and a big thank you to the cabinet for the 2016-17 school year, which includes Nadia Yassin (President), Justin Meyers (Vice-President), Joshua Williams (Secretary), and Houston Shimala (Treasurer).
