State-of-the-art labs offering students hands-on experience

Real world experience, state-of-the-art laboratories, and hands-on learning can be used to describe Ivy Tech Community College’s Biotechnology Program.

Biotechnology students have the opportunity to learn in state-of-the-art labs that are equipped with supplies, equipment, and instrumentation used in the biotechnology field. This ensures students enter the field with all of the knowledge to enter the field prepared.

These classes focus on a variety of procedures that are necessary to know in order to execute laboratory projects. Ivy Tech Biotechnology students spend the majority of class time in the lab doing hands-on learning activities, as well as have one-on-one instruction with their instructor.

Graduates of this program are prepared to work in a variety of careers from life science to manufacturing settings. These jobs include research, quality control, pharmaceuticals, and medical device manufacturing, and more.

As a Biological Technician, you will assist biological and medical scientist in laboratories. You will be responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, as well as monitoring experiments, making observations, and calculating and recording results of experiments.

Ivy Tech has several industry partners including Dow Agroscience, Eli Lilly, Cook Pharmica, and more. These partners offer high-paying jobs within the community to Ivy Tech Biotechnology students upon completion of their degree.
