National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week will begin on Sunday, May 20 and run through Saturday, May 26. This nationwide public education campaign honors those who work in the “front-line” of medicine, often providing lifesaving services. This includes several Ivy Tech Community College graduates, students, staff and faculty within the Paramedic Science program.
This year’s EMS Week theme is “Stronger Together,” with several days throughout the week dedicated to different topics including: Education, Safety Tuesday, EMS for Children Day, CPR/Stop the Bleed and EMS Recognition Day.
EMS Week is a collaboration between the National Association of EMTs and the American College of Emergency Physicians. EMS Week began in 1974, after it was declared the first “National Emergency Medical Services Week,” by President Gerald Ford.
