Fast paced industries call for innovative programs.
Keeping up with the latest healthcare trends is extremely important. With Ivy Tech Community College’s Medical Assisting program, instructors pride themselves in an innovative program that properly prepares their students for the workforce.
“Healthcare is always changing and we want to make sure that the Medical Assisting program here is keeping up with changes within the industries,” says Sherry Braye, Ivy Tech instructor. “By implementing new policies and procedures in the healthcare system into our classes, we are able to do just that.”
When students are looking for a college to pursue their degree, having a well-rounded curriculum is of key importance, especially those in the healthcare field. Ivy Tech is perfect for those looking for an up-to-date curriculum under a time crunch. This degree can be completed in two years or less, or you can choose to transfer to a four-year university.
How Ivy Tech will prepare you for the workforce
When pursuing your Medical Assisting degree from Ivy Tech, you have opportunities for real-life simulations. These simulations are conducted by credentialed faculty with experience in the field. Classes focus on patient care, venipuncture, electrocardiogram, vital signs, injections, medical coding, electronic charting, and medical records. They are taught in various settings, from computer labs to clinical labs, with functioning patient rooms.
Ivy Tech’s Medical Assisting program has been a success at many campuses, however, the Anderson campus has a lot to be proud of.
During the last several semesters, all of the externs in the program were hired as medical assistants prior to even completing their final semester. Medical Assisting students at this particular campus also have an opportunity to work with Community Health Network and the MA Fellowship program. Students apply to this fellowship, and if accepted, get a minimum of 250 hours of experience in several specialty offices.
Graduates of this program are highly sought after from various hospitals and doctors’ offices. However, if you decide to go another route, you may transfer to one of Ivy Tech’s transfer partners such as IUPUI, Purdue, and more!
